Never mind how much the shirt cost, it was worth it. It was a bright, crisp white, and it reached down to cover her thighs, which was a lot for a shirt to do. The sleeves were so long they were slightly billowed, yet the shirt was cut so clean it was almost sheer. It had a hood, which was a feature you might have thought would be superfluous in a white shirt, but there it was. The hood made the wearer look like a medieval monk who had gone shopping and never come back. The buttons ran all the way up the front, but the wearer had left them undone at the bottom, and the shirt was flying open. The look was sheer. Not sheer in the sense of transparent, but sheer in the sense of relaxed. The fabric was probably viscose, or a blend involving polyester, which sounds sweaty but wasn’t. The wearer’s hair was loose and wavy. People like me can only envy people like her.
